Dachshund Puppy Adoption Process
Thank you for your interest in an SK Dox puppy. To adopt one of our wonderful puppies, follow these steps.
1.
Review Puppies, Parents & Terms
Begin by looking through our available puppies and parents' information.
If you see a puppy you’re interested in, or a future breeding that catches your eye, please review our information below. Most questions can be answered in these sections.
2.
Submit a Puppy Application
If you see a puppy you would like to reserve, please complete our
Applications are typically reviewed within 1–24 hours, and I will respond to you by email once it has been processed.
3.
Approval, Contract & Deposit
If your application is approved, you will receive the contracts by email. Please complete and return along with your deposit.
Once the contract and deposit are received, I will send you our Puppy Manual to help you start planning for your new puppy.

Price
Our puppies are $2000 on average but vary between $1500-$2500 depending on color, coat and bloodlines. All of our dogs have excellent temperaments and come from parents and ancestors with exceptional health and temperaments as well and all are raised with kids, cats and other dogs, and we follow a vaccination and health program that works best for keeping our pups healthy. We guarantee top quality at a reasonable price.
Due to Minnesota State Law, if you pick your puppy up in the state of Minnesota, we must charge sales tax of 7.35%. That will be added to the price of your puppy.
VIP Waiting List & Deposits
A $200 non-refundable deposit will hold the puppy of your choice until puppy is ready, or you can sign up for our
VIP waiting list and get pick of litters before public (in the order that deposits are received)
All deposits go toward the purchase price of the puppy.
Deposits can be rolled litter to litter until you find your perfect puppy (within 1 year)
We always retain first pick of every litter as we are first and foremost breed for ourselves.
We do not hold puppies without a deposit.
Deposits are non-refundable so please be sure you are ready to commit.
When sending the $200 deposit make sure to email me as well with your contact info and preferences for a pup (color, gender etc.)
To get on the VIP list, fill out our Puppy Application.
I will email once processed (usually within 24 hours) and if approved the contracts will be emailed to you.
When a new litter is born, I will post photos, and e-mail the VIP list, then 24 hrs. later I will go through those that have responded and are interested in the order that deposits are received. If you don't respond or pass you will be notified again on the next litter.
Once you have chosen your puppy, we will hold that puppy for you until puppy is ready to go at 8-9 weeks old. We will post updates weekly, sometimes photos and sometimes video. Photos can be emailed to you as well, so you have them for your puppy album. Puppies can be viewed by appointment.
What to Expect When Reserving a Puppy from Us
We want every family to feel informed and confident in the process. Below is an outline of what you can expect when working with us: Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions or want to clarify expectations.
Timeline

Breeding dates, due dates, and pickup dates cannot be guaranteed, nature determines the timing.

We give estimated timeframes based on expected heat cycles and prior experience, but these can and do vary, we will keep you updated on pickup dates but are usually 9 weeks of age.
Deposits

Deposits are non-refundable as outlined in the deposit contract.

Deposits hold your place in line on the VIP list and/or reserve a specific puppy.

If the timing does not work out, your deposit may be applied to a future litter.
Updates
-
Photos are updated on our website about every 2 weeks, with videos posted on our Facebook/Instagram pages as we are able.

I try to alternate photos and videos so that new content is usually available weekly. However, this is not guaranteed as life happens, and sometimes priorities such as bottle-feeding a litter, caring for a mom recovering from a C-section, or family obligations may delay updates.

Ready-to-go dates are listed on each litter’s page, but these may vary slightly.
Parent Information

All sires and dams are AKC registered, and health tested via Embark and our vet.

Photos/information are listed on each dog's page. Accessible through the litter page or the link in the menu.

Puppy paperwork (vet records, vaccination history, and parent health testing) will be provided at pickup.
Veterinary Care
-
Puppies are vet-checked, dewormed, and vaccinated before going home.

They will come with health certificate, vaccination record to take to your vet.

Puppies will have their 6-week vaccination and sometimes 9-week depending on pickup date.

Families are responsible for follow-up vet visits and vaccinations after pickup.
Pickup & Boarding

An email with pickup information will be sent about 2 weeks before puppies are ready for pickup.

We can meet if desired, (see fees above in delivery section) other towns can also be arranged.

Extended boarding may be available if discussed in advance and agreed upon (additional fees will apply) However availability is not guaranteed until terms and availability have been confirmed.
Future Litters
-
Not all breeding's take, and some pregnancies cannot be confirmed until later in the term. If you want a pup from a specific dam, please be flexible as she may not conceive, or she may not produce the desired coat type, color, or gender you are hoping for.

Flexibility is important; nature determines litter size, sex, and coat type.

I frequently get asked how to avoid the fees, unfortunately all business transactions incur the fees. Only personal transactions do not. That means if you are paying a deposit of $200 then add $8.
for the fee's so total would be $208. If you do not add it, then it will be added to your balance due.
To avoid fees, pay with either.
Cash
Direct Bank Transfer- (at least half down or full balance) no % fees just a $15 charge for my bank fee.
Sorry our bank is not accepting Zelle at this time.
We do not accept Cashier’s Checks or Money Orders of any kind.
Pickup / Delivery / Safe Shipping
Puppies are ready to go any time after 8-9 weeks (depending on litter) and we offer the following ways to get your puppy home.
1. You are welcome to pick up your new puppy here in Akeley,Minnesota.(Pickups are by appointment only)
2. We can meet you somewhere for an additional fee. Here are the fees for a few bigger cities, but please contact us about specifics!
Minneapolis: $350
Duluth: $350
Fargo $200
St Cloud: $200
Brainerd: $100
Bemidji $50
3-You (or friend or relative) fly in and pickup, we can meet you at the airport. (Fargo, ND or Minneapolis, MN)
4-We can provide safe reliable delivery from one of us or our family, to most airports in the USA for but can vary by location. We meet at the airport for pickup.
5- We (or a family member) do travel across country from time to time and can arrange delivery if it around our schedule. Cost varies by location. timing etc.
